My 3pt internal lift stopped working. I read in the operators manual that I needed to clean the transmission wire filter. I have drained the two plugs, both under the housing, one forward of the shift lever and one aft, are there any on the axle housing? Is it ok to wash out the transmission/hydraulics with a couple of gallons of diesel to get all the old fluid out? The op manual doesn't give that info.

Fluid was milky... I needed new boots on the shift levers, now installed.

Thanks Ken

I talked to the repair shop today and they told me it is ok to use diesel to clean the transmission. After draining as much of the old fluid as you can re-install the filter and drain plugs. Then add about 3 gallons of fresh diesel. start it up. Drive at idle for about 3 minutes. Lift the 3 pt lift once or twice slowly to clean the valves. Leave the lift at the lowest point and drain it again. In stall a new or cleaned filter and install new fluid to the correct level. Lift worked better on diesel than milky 10-30 hydraulic fluid.

I also took a rag and cleaned as much of the old gunk out of the lowest part of the case where the filter is removed. This opening is just large enough to get a medium sized hand in. Hope this helps someone else. Ken
