Massey Ferguson 290 hydraulics failed

The hydraulics on my 290 have just failed. The fluid level is fine. The hydraulics had been fine and then yesterday nothing. Thoughts on where to start? I'm not a mechanic and my father, who is, is 90 and he can't remember where to start. Any help, will be appreciated.

Are you or your father prepared to do the work yourselves? If so, do you have a shop manual? I am sure there are some people here that can help you but we need some further details.

When you say hydraulics have failed, do you mean 3 point hitch? Do you have a front end loader? Does it work?

Does the tractor have power steering and does it still work?

Have you drained some fluid to see what condition it is in? Is it clean, new or old, any metal shavings?
