Massey ferguson 35 with no tach?

Ust bought a 1963 MF 35 and it has no tach or evidence of ever having one. Anyone have any history on this? NR Eric owned a tractor with no tach.

My 135 only has an oil pressure and water temp guage.

It's probably a Massey 35 Special. The Deluxe and Vineyard models had the tach and additional gauges. If you have the serial number, an exact identification can be made at the following tractor data website.

Not at home to refer to my manual but I believe MasseyWV is correct as far as the variants listed. Mine is a 135 Special, photo attached is not my tractor but it is the layout of the dash on mine.

i would agree it a MF 35 Special Same tractor but no tach no fuel gauge, no power steering no live power. basic tractor

Yep, it's a Special. No tach with the Special. My 1964 MF135 diesel Deluxe has the full set of gauges.

Back in those days folks used their eyes, ears, and motion senses to know when an engine was performing well under load. The race for what mfg. could include the most idiot lights, gauges, and meters started after that.
Now we complain about toys that cost too much and have more goodies to replace in short order.

I never look at the tach on my bike, in my car or an other vehicle I've owned. Some like it, my daughters used it when they were learning to drive a standard, since becoming familiar with their cars they've converted to the "I know by the sound of the motor" to know when to shift.

As far as the fuel guage, would be nice I guess but again, I've come to appreciate how long I can run it depending on the rpms and how hard I'm working it.

Oil pressure and water temp on the other hand are must haves in my book.

The Massey 135 could be bought without a tach. It only had two gauges. It's not that uncommon.
