After losing my 2014 Mahindra 4025 in a fire, I have recently bought a 1990's Massey Ferguson 231. I realize it has a small hydraulic pump, but it would save my back when splitting big logs. I already have the log splitter. I used it on the Mahindra. My 231 doesnt have any remotes. It seems to have the same hydraulic features of the older models, like the 35, 50, 135 etc. Is there a way I can install some quick connects in the tractor transmission case to hook up the log splitter? I really have no use for remotes and I dont want to spend 400 on a single spool remote if I can figure out how to get around that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A separate pump/engine for the splitter will be better in ALL ways.

I converted a neighbors tractor powered splitter to a pump/engine,,,,
he thought he died and went to heaven!!:cloud9:

I would like a seperate engine/pump better no doubt, but I lost my shop, atv's, welding equipment, tools and tractor in a fire. I dont have a way of fabricating at the moment. Thats why I am asking about running it off the tractor. I saw the diverter valve and I may end up going that route if I have to.
