massey ferguson f40 will move in low reverse and 1st gear but nothing else

I have an f40 tractor that I put a new clutch in and at first it wouldn't move at all but then it started moving in low range 1st gear and reverse anybody have an ideal of why it won't move in any other gears.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping. Classic symptom is tractor will no longer pull itself well under loads or in higher gear ranges. I would start with any external adjustments on the linkage from pedal to bell housing. If that doesn't fix the issue, something internal is probably binding or mis-installed and you'll probably have to split the tractor again.

Negative on the clutch
its a pretty common occurance on early MF tractors a mf 35/to35/mf50 are similar

next to the shifter is a large plug. remove the plug and you can see inside. The best I can explain is to use a large screwdriver and try sliding the gears around to free it up. It will work , it will take some time, it will frustrate the heck out of you. This is assuming it was working correctly before it got stuck.

on my old mf 35 this happened several times and I always got it to function....use the search function and maybe you can find a better explaination.
