Hello all.

Massey GC 2610 with cb05 Backhoe. Was using the backhoe recently, this morning took it off to use the loader and trailer for some dirt moving.

Went to hook it back up this afternoon and it seems like the hydraulic cylinders will extend but not contract, if that makes any sense. I have 3 hoses, and one hose can only be hooked up one way. The other hoses are likely hooked up correct, since I hear a squealing sound if I hook them up the other way.

I now have the backhoe sitting fully raised on the stabilizers, since they won't retract and let the backhoe sit on the ground.

There was a fairly big change in temperature, from about 35 F to about 50 degrees also sitting in direct sunlight.

Any thoughts? I really don't want to leave it sitting like it is, it seems like Murphy's law that it will fall when someone is near it.

Do you have your lines hooked up correctly...?

It seems the more I get to know the Massey GC2610, the more complacent I become. The problem ended up being the lift lever for the 3 point hitch was in the raise position. Apparently in this position, the hydraulic cylinders on the backhoe will not retract. Once I set the 3 PT Hitch in the neutral position, everything works fine, and I managed to get in a few more hours of digging.

When I first got the machine about 4 years ago, I would be almost **** about making sure everything was in the correct position before looking for more difficult fixes.

I am glad it was relatively simple, and goes down to operator error.

Seems like I also discovered that "the hard way." Now, any time there's a quirk in the hydraulics (or even some electrical issues), the first thing I always do is check all controls levers for neutral position and try again. Glad you were able to get it working!
