Massey gc1705 model 2326 60" MMM question

Since my deck is level side to side I have not payed much attention to the adjustment. My "guess" would be that it works much like the side to side on the three point. Only one side will adjust up or down by tightening or loosing the threaded rod which will level the deck.

IIRC, the only adjustment I messed with on my deck was on the bracket that pins in under the front of the tractor since the back deck wheels were hitting the ground before the front. Into my third mowing season with this thing now and "knock on wood" nothing has moved from the original adjustment.

FWIW, my yard is a steep hillside with lots of dips, ruts and rough spots so perfection is not in the cards BUT the Massey Ferguson does a better job mowing it than anything I have used.

So I take it that if you follow the decal height settings for the deck you will be in the floating position , wheels on the ground . If you want to suspend your deck with the wheels not touching you would raise the deck wheels up which would allow your deck to suspend .

What I did was decide what setting on the knob worked for me then, while setting on a level floor, adjusted the wheels to the setting that allowed them to come closest to, without touching the ground, with the deck in the mowing position.

Look at page 29 in the 2326 mid mount mower deck owners manual. It says, "For finish mowing the gauge wheels must roll on the ground".

Good information. I don't have a GC, but my mower manual states, "The deck is to be operated with the wheels on the ground. The cutting height is set by positioning the wheels in one of seven index hole settings." My tractor manual has a section about using the mower height adjustment knob to set he height. We set the height of the wheels so they run on the ground when we set the height knob to 3.5". That gives a cut we like.

What does your tractor manual state about the using the mower height adjustment on the tractor?

Interesting options for the 2326 deck . Seems like the manual does say wheels on ground for finish mowing and wheels off the ground for rough / taller grasses . I will try both ways , but I don't like the idea of buying wheels and possible deck issues with the deck and wheels on the ground continuously .

I talked to the rep in my area Saturday and we discussed the options for mowing . He said most dealers prefer setting up the deck with the deck wheels on the ground for a better cut . Main reason , the deck is heavier on one side than the other so it is difficult to setup and keep the deck level for a nicer cut . Mowing on the ground takes out most guess work in setting up .
Which way will I decide on ?? I'll try both ways as I get my feet wet and get used to my tractor and settings .
He also mentioned that the deck linkage design needs a lot of tweaking !!
For now I'll just enjoy using my new tractor !!! I looked at JD and Kubota and just liked the MF a bit more and less money !!!
I watched Tony's excellent video on the modification he did and great job . I dont want to get into that much right now..

I think you're on the right track. Trying it both ways is the best way.

I prefer deck wheels up BUT that's in my yard.
