Has anyone else noticed the lost of speed in reverse after the completion of the pedal campaign on their GC2400, 2410, 2600 or 2610?

Mine was returned by the dealer this morning and the first thing I noticed was the direction pedals were not level like before the campaign. Then when I drove the tractor the reverse speed was noticeably slower. I would think less than 1/2 of the forward speed which in not acceptable. The other part of the problem was the tractor was very difficult to put into gear and actually was grinding a little.

So I think the pedals are not adjusted properly (obviously) but the Service Manager it trying to tell me that it is exactly what Agco specified. Of course not being able to put the tractor in the gear is not correct either.

I would very much appreciate the input of other GC owners who have had the campaign completed.

I had a reverse issue. My fwd speed was half as fast as my reverse speed (you can find my post from a month ago). The linkage needed to be readjusted.

I spent my first 50 hours running at half speed. You should seek another dealer or reach out to MF direct.

Thanks Gio,

I remember your post and it seems like I have exactly the opposite issue.

The thing that really made me mad was the "mechanic" that delivered the tractor said that I was the only one complaining about the tractor after the repair the other 3 their dealership did not get complaints. Of course I pointed out that there was no correlation between 3 tractors they did right and mine that they broke. Naturally the "mechanic" was very young and stupid...and continued to argue with me. It was not much longer before I told him that he needed to get off my property and never come back again.

Thanks again for reminding me about your post.

Hey Bruce,

One more thing to check. I knew I had a problem for sure when my cruise control lever wouldn't travel freely to all speed ranges. I would get going then push the handle fwd as hard as I could and it would only go half way. You may want to check the range of motion on your machine then tell your boy wonder "mechanic" about it.

I was a little annoyed that nobody caught my issue while they were setting up my tractor for delivery. I didn't know what to expect with this being my first tractor but when my wife walked along side me at full speed I thought "this can't be right". Luckily my dealer was really good about making things right but they really should have caught it up front. We made pretty big investments in our GCs and you would hope for a high level of service before AND after the sale.

The one challenge that always comes up with Massey when compared to Deere is the availability/quality of service so you would think dealers would go above and beyond to win the battle for brand loyalty.

Anyway, hope you get things figured out. These are great little machines when they work to spec.

Mine goes about slower in reverse, but, that's the way I received it. I'm taking for granted that the 'recall' work was already performed?

If it's not supposed to be that way, I'll fiddle with it after winter is over.

I should note that my pedals are level with each other.

It would be slower in reverse normally. Though it sounds as though they didn't properly adjust the linkages after the campaign was installed.

It probably needs some adjusting. I wouldn't let that kid do it though.

I adjusted my linkage to where I'm just as fast in reverse as forward.

Thanks everybody for the help.

My dealer tried to pickup the tractor on Monday (I'm on a business trip to CT) but they were not going to tarp the tractor on the trailer in the worst rain in several years. The idiot Service Manager laughed at me about getting the tractor wet, he told me it was made to survive the rain. First of all it's mine and I don't want it on the back of a trailer at 60+ MPH for 75 miles in a downpour that my wife described as raining sideways.

Gio - Thanks for the tip about the cruise control. I looked and the range selector is hitting the cruise control linkage when trying to put the tractor in low range and sure enough the cruise does not go even to half way. Obviously, the linkage is not fastened to the pivot correctly.

The other item I complained about was not being able to see the hydraulic level in the sight glass. The Service Manager said the sight glass was full that's why I could not see it. I pointed out that if the sight glass was full the fluid level is OVERFULL...but trying to use logic on an idiot is a waste of my time.

Plus, the a__hole idiot Service Manager wanted to charge me if they picked up the tractor and did not find anything wrong. So if they fix the linkage and decide there is nothing wrong they want to charge me for 75 miles delivery each way plus shop time.

I spoke to the Sales Manager that I purchased the tractor from just less than 2 years ago and he actually understood my issue about the sight glass and the problems with the hydro pedal and reverse speed. The motion control linkage is obviously incorrectly adjusted and they want to pickup the tractor on Monday but they are "hoping" they can complete the work in 3-4 business days and get the tractor back to me...but they are closed on Friday New Year's eve so I would be without the tractor for 2 more weeks. Since I travel from CA to CT weekly for work I would lose 3 weekends of work, and I have a leaky union under a sprinkler valve box that I want the backhoe to dig around the valve box. I bought the GC2410 for the purpose of eliminating a shovel in my hands, so I have no intention of digging by hand.

I don't think I can trust the dealer to correctly adjust the linkage and get the tractor back to me in a timely manner. Plus, they seem to think if the tractor is in the shop by 12/28 then they can cover it under warranty but the tractor repair was started on 12/10.

The tractor is dry and safe in my garage so I think my Christmas will be spent working on my favorite diesel powered toy.

Glad the cruise control check helped out.

It's amazing the difference a good dealer can make. My dealer picked up my GC (70 mile roundtrip) fixed my linkage, checked a bunch of other stuff, replaced my cooling fan (which i broke) and rolled it all up under warranty. Then i received a box of filters and small parts to keep me going through the Winter.

To tell the truth I was a little worried about going with MF because of the service, there is a JD dealer 5 minutes from my house with a big shiny showroom and huge shop. My MF dealer is 35 miles away and his shop looks like an old country garage. In the end I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I suggest you make a few calls to corporate and throw in a few mentions of "concern for your safety" regarding the linkage issue.

again, i hope things work out and happy holidays

bmarian, my service Mgr told me it was a common fault of the cruise control lever getting out of spec. It was due to drivers getting off the tractor on that side. They don't notice when they catch/hit/sit on the lever and bend it. He admitted he did it often enough. They just bent it back to normal position, and now I never get off on that side. No problems since.
