Massey-Harris 44(6)
I have bought my first tractor, a 1951 6 cylinder gas Massey-Harris. It does not have a 3 point setup on it. Are these typically available as a bolt-on or bolt-on with minor modifications?
Then I would like to install a backhoe. The tractor has an engine driven hydraulic pump that runs the loader, a side PTO for a belt and a rear PTO.
What should I be looking for with regards to 3pt and backhoe? Thanks in advance!

I'd build a sub frame for the BH, Wouldn't fit a 3PT, they were basically an after thought on 44Ks, 744D &745D, these would similar to your 44s(6).
If your engine driven pump is capable of working a BH I'd tap into its system, if its not you could use a PTO or BP drive set up.
If it is already fitted with a FE loader, the addition of a BH would make it into a very useful unit.

Thanks for the info.Should I be looking for a BH first and then design a subframe around that? Or are there certain ones I should look for? (or stay away from?)

I'd buy or build the BH first.
