I was rearrranging the barn last week to make some room for storing my loader. I hooked up my 6ft blower lifted it a bit and pulled out of the barn in 2nd gear. I made a right turn and felt the blower start to swing and then heard a snap. The bracket that attaches the check chain to the lift arm had snapped at the bolt hole, with no damage to the bolt. I found the piece that had broken off and it looked like what my father used to call "white metal or pot metal" a cheap alloy. Ordered a new one from Massey, $6.00 plus freight plus $100.00 worth of aggrivation.
I have a large pc. of pasture that has to be side hill mowed. I have everything as short as it will allow. These new style check chains don't give you much room for adjustment.
The new one looks to be made of real steel.
