Massey MF 205 Steering Parts

Hey all,

I have a MF 205 - 1981 I think - that the front end/steering is shot on. If you hit a rut or bump and you're not careful it'll almost break your arm. Other than that, it's a great little tractor. Problem is I'm having trouble finding information about the front end and also repair parts. I suspect it's mostly in the gear although I'm sure rod ends wouldn't hurt either. Any ideas - parts and rebuild advice? Thanks All!

First off, welcome to TBN! Second, it sounds like you don't have a shop manual, or parts manual for your tractor. If that's the case, you will save yourself a huge amount of timing buy getting them.

Third, Agco actually does a pretty good job of making info available. Go to the link below, click "View Books" in the "Guest User" area, and then type in "205" in the window, and select MF from the All Brands drop down. That will give you a list of possible matches, and it sounds like you want the 205/205-4 Tractor option. That will give you a list breaking down pretty much all the subsystems on the machine. Then select "Steering" or "Front Axle" in the appropriate column, and a picture will pop up with all of the parts, their reference numbers etc. You can often take the reference number and Google search it to get an idea what the part retails for...I found even Amazon.com carries many of the more common parts, and a handful of places can get almost anything that a dealer can.
