MASSEY PROBLEMS

Hello guys i am new here. I have a 2004 451 4wd massey ferguson tractor. I am having some problems with getting it to move. I was out the other day pushing and moving dirt down a fairly steep hill got done pushing a pile and went to back up and it wouldnt move. It wont move forward or backward. I have took the top of the transmission off to see if one of the linkage set screws slipped off and allowed the shift forks to just slide on the rails and not shift. they are fine. while i was in there i noticed that with the tractor in gear and the hi/low shifter in either hi or low that when i engauge the clutch that i can spin the transmission by hand. I dont believe that i should be able to do this (correct me if im wrong). But as it should when i take my foot off the clutch the transmission will not spin by hand. So i started the tractor and cycled through all the gears in hi/low both with the transmission top off and it spins in every gear. when this thing quit working there was no grinding banging clanking or pop it just QUIT. Is there something im missing here? Is there a pin or gear that could of fallen off or malfunctioned in the other half of the tractor. Any advice is appreciated, im at a loss. Fingers crossed that it doesnt need to be Split.... Thanks guys

I'm not familiar with your specfic model of tractor but some have a drive coupling between the transmission out put shaft and the rear axle pinion shaft. If that shears then there is no transmission of torque between the tranny and the rear axle.
