Over the last several months, we’ve redone the master bedroom which was left near unfinished upon building the house, because of settling causing cracked drywall & other issues. Plus, the wifey decided she wanted to rip the ¾ carpet & ¼ pine t&g up. The bedroom is odd shaped as some later pics might display.

Sooo this first pic is the “powder room” part of the master b/r. I put this flooring down and they the daybed (notice hinges on it so we could use for storage also. I had to rip all these boards up but prior to that, I had to remove the daybed. Little did I know when I made it using scrap 2x6’s that it would take me twice as long to disassemble than it do to construct.

All boards are up, more importantly, I also removed ALL NAILS from the boards so I could burn/other the boards (most of which were ruined by removal)

Picture of part of ceiling line. This is what the settling did to us. To sort of cut to the end, when we redid the drywall, turns out, only the TAPE was ripped. So we simply pulled the old tape off, put new tape back on and repainted room. I really thought we’d have to put about ½ new drywall in this wall.

Next was the window in the front. Seems when installed, (very high up) they installed 2x2’s and screwed this from the INSIDE of house, to the 2x2’s, rather than screw it from the OUTSIDE in.

YIKES... unwanted company. I’m glad we didn’t’ start this until early fall when some of these critters were asleep. That said, we still had maybe 50 or so flying around the bedroom. I found about 10 or so of these in all.

After the window was out, I put a board across the opening. It’s a 4’ window and a long way down

Window was taken out, I took some GOOD measurements & framed 2/4’s around the WINDOW (and not the wall). Then we reinstalled the window (with attached 2x4’s) BACK into the big opening... after some tinkering, it fit like a glove. Little bit of drywall... Cutting/fitting that arched part was much more difficult than I’d expected.

The closets (both) had the 4’ door and a LONG right side. I knocked a hole in wall, inserted a partition inside the closet, added a door, lights and viola
