well not in a need at the moment but i have wondered. how the **** do you get the battery in and out? does not seem possible without somehow taking the front end of the hood off or some such thing. thanks in advance.

they should have made it very easy to o instead of major construction...

It is rather easy, no major construction involved: open the hood, you loosen or take off the 2 wing nuts that hold the grill/head light assembly on, lean it forward, unplug the headlights and then the whole grill/headlight asy. lifts right off and battery is right there.

thanks - i have not had a chance to look since there are serious lightning storms out there.... are the wing nuts on the inside? i only saw a couple of screws on the outside so-called corners of the hood.

it may sound easy if you know what you are doing or the dealer is close - but in my case - sounds a bit sketchy. i guess if i do do it and it works and i get a look at what is involved it could be rather easy as you say.

Thanks again.... wish you could just pop one in and out without any other parts to remove prior to dealing with the battery.

Blackops, once you figure it out and do it a time or two, the grill comes off in well under 30 seconds without tools. You will have no issue.

Thanks Dave - I also trust your wisdom here. do you unplug from the lights or from another source that is connected to the lights. Which end.

also just for the heck of it - what is the specs for the proper battery to replace. I was told it had to be a seriously powerful battery to crank the engine.

:)))

The wiring will be obvious, red/black wires with a white connector right about battery level. One connector does both lights. When you loosen the wing screws and tilt the grill towards you a little, it binds slightly on the side panels. If that is a bother, remove the side panels first.

Honestly, it doesn't take any special battery. Make sure it is the same spec as far as size, and get a good healthy cranking amp spec and you are good to go. In really cold weather, battery power is a lot bigger deal....so I live in California to avoid that complication!

Clean the terminals.

Many first time tractor owners such as me are used to just popping the hood on your vehicle where the battery tray was always up front. The Max 25 procedure takes less time compared to accessing the battery on my 2615.
