Mahindra Max 25 HST
I own a 2012 Max 25 Hst. I've had this tractor for 8 years and I love it and have never had a problem until now. It has started to randomly blow the 10 amp fuse referenced in the title of this post. It will blow out and I replace it. It may blow out again in a week or three months.
Doesn't blow when starting only while tractor is in operation. I have checked wiring for the items it protects but I'm not sure if I really checked all of the possibilities. Has anybody had this problem or have any ideas what could be causing this?

Maybe a chafing wire that's moving around time to time .....

You possibly have a wire somewhere with the insulation worn through. Look closely where it makes sharp corners across metal surfaces or where metal clips hold it in place. These clips and corners can cut through the insulation over time. The bare spot may not be grounding out all the time. It could only happen when the tractor is moving and shaking. Look especially closely at any wires your fused wire feeds.

What does fuse protect?

It protects the alternator, glow controller, electromagnet pump, turn signal and panel indicator lights.
I've checked the wiring for shorts except for the electromagnet pump which I haven't located yet.
I've only checked exposed wiring not wires that are bundled in the harness because I believe its unlikely the problem could be inside the harness.

The Max line has had many issues with the wiring harness and connectors. This may be one of those problems. Need to trace the wiring.

As everyone has said,"check the wires" but first make sure the fuse protect's what you think it does. Anything is possible but I find it hard to believe (A) the alternator is hardwired to accessories (B) alternator is limited to only 10 amps (C) lights and glow control are on same circuit. Look at published specs for alternator output. If it's more than 10 amps(I'm betting it's far more),that should tell you it can't be fused at 10 amps. Study the schematic to make certain the fuse doesn't only serve indicator lights for those rather than actual devices.
Let us know after you have all that straight and we can begin tracking the problem down.

Thanks for all your reply's.
The wiring operators manual and fuse box reference alternator. The schematic shows a wire going to the regulator that is part of the alternator. There is a separate 50 amp fuse for the alternator.
I agree that its probably an intermittent short. I was hoping that maybe this had become a common problem that others owners have had and that it was related to a particular wire.

Some models, like my Max26xl, are notorious for the wiring under the seat for the safety switch getting pinched and shorting out and blowing a fuse. Especially if you frequently swing the seat for the backhoe. Either way I would check that first. I was hesitant to do it, but bypassed mine shortly after buying it new and having repeated issues with it.

I'm wondering if the alternator wire with the 10 amp fuse would be the voltage reference. On some engines the reference is straight from the battery but maybe Mahindra wanted to have it switched so not to draw down when not in use. Just thinking out loud.
