I've read that tractor prices in the Southeast are lower than elsewhere in the US, but then again, I don't believe *everything* I read on the Internet.

Actually, my before tax price was close to what you were quoted for a TLB. Sales tax in TN is north of 9%, so I paid more than what you were quoted. Suppose I could have purchased in AL or KY to avoid the sales tax, but even if I was comfortable with doing that sort of thing ( and I'm not ), I wanted to support the local dealer.

Thought I'd done enough research, but perhaps not. What's a 5'rfm and what are Kodiak forks ?

thanks,

If u go to the mahindra site, and look at the implements, I got the 5' Rear Finish Mower (rfm) and the forklift attachment that goes on loader (NOT SSQA) and/or 3pt hitch. They are both cool. I think the forks r a little over the top for the max28. The max lift capacity compensates for the heavy attatchment, but lighter smaller forks may be a better choice. My forks would do well on a 50 HP tractor.

Rear Finish Mower (rfm) and the forklift attachment

Got it. I bought a set of used pallet forks for the loader. Have you switched between the bucket and forks yet? If so, how much of a hassle is it ?

Needed special pins (machined to same diameter as bucket pins), dealer had them drilled to make them greasable. Forks are in this brochure (mine differ slightly): http://www.kodiakmfg.com/products/Kodiak_Implements.pdf

Also available at northern tool:
Howse Pallet Forks for Front-End Loader, Model# SXFLPF-BLK | Skid-Steers Attachments| Northern Tool + Equipment

I've never had SSQA, but that takes 30 seconds. I'm looking at closer to 15 minutes. I've only done it a couple of times, but I think I'll get faster as I develop a system. If you have to switch rarely, then time is not to bad. If switching alot, add up the time it takes you to switch, put it in the framework of an hourly wage, and see if its worth the $1000 to get SSQA

I usually put mine on the back, cause it lifts more and allows the bucket and forks same time.

I just purchased the same set of universal Mahindra pallet forks for my Max 28 and the dealer can't find pins for me to attach these to the loader any help with diameter, size, where to find etc would be great. Also, did you pin the forks on the lowest holes and if so how did you get the angle iron to miss the bucket cylinder hydraulic hoses? were the pins longer and did you use spacers?

Sorry, just saw this.

Dealer had special pins machined for me, with grease fittings, after I explained the original config he sold me didn't work. I also explained to him that the angle iron had to be spaced far enough apart to clear the hydro fittings, so that's something I did myself, then he got the pins needed to fit.

FYI, if I could do it over again, I would choose different loader forks. These are strong for the 3pth, but they are really designed for a stronger/larger tractor. Dealer told me they were 200lbs at purchase. I think, like those in northern tool, they are 350lbs.

Hey kootch88, there are a bunch of max usernames on tbn. I've still got the same forks, though I rarely use them on the loader now. Mostly on the 3pth.

FYI - ATI Now has a pin on SSQA loader attachement for the ML205 Loader. Looking into getting one in a couple of months. Thought you guys would like to know.
