I have operated many types of equipment. But, I am having trouble feathering the backhoe main boom to the up position. It seems much faster than the other controls, or it may be related to the geometry. Is there a way to slow this thing down at the valve? I may have to fit a rubber bumper in there if I dont come up with something else!

I'm a backhoe n00b, but the JD47 on my 4310 acts the same way. Dipperstick, bucket, and boom pivot are smooth and responsive. Boom in/out is jerky chaos

They make inline flow restrictors. I’d make sure it wasn’t air or something else first and then put a little flow control at the cylinder- prob much easier then trying to attach at the valve

I guess I could crack a fitting on the cylinder to bleed any air? It sounds like a flow restrictor would be an easy fix if it is not air.

Thanks for the response!

I’d just run that cylinder in and out to full stops 20-30 times. That will get the air out.
The make a fitting that looks like a simple nipple but it only has a 1/32” or so hole in the middle of it. With some tinkering you can drill that hole out until you get the desired speed. The pressure/force at the cylinder won’t be affected.
If you don’t want to tinker they make valves that allow for fine tuning.

The valve is several times the cost of the item referenced above. Sorry I don’t know the name of the nipple restrictor. I have one that I’m using for something else but I don’t know the name.......

I will give that a try and research that nipple. Thanks
