Kubota RTV 1100c, JD 740,Kioti DK 40 with KL401 loader .
I own a 2006 kubota RTV 900 and currently have a curtis 72 inch snowplow(manuel angle, electric lift)weight is around 275 lbs.I want to go with a 72 inch 7 ga.steel blade with full hydro lift and angle.the total weight is around 570lbs.I also have the curtis cab with the updated heavy duty front springs. Will my front end handle the extra weight? Thanks, coobie

I'd say not! The HD shocks would help some but the down side of the Mcpherson struts is the inability to carry weight well. You can find other blades that will give you what you are looking for in options with a more suitable weight.

Question, why do you need a heavier snow plow? Is the Curtis not a good plow? The reason I ask I'm going to get a new plow this year.

Old coot,I like the curtis snowplow,my only concern is the sub-frame mount IMHO it is not that heavy duty built.I have chose to have a local dealer Michigan Iron(morrice Mi.)who is great at steel fabrication beef up my current curtis plow and make it hydro angle and lift with a heavier cutting edge and skid shoes.I was leaning towards a more stout 7 ga. blade. After talking with kubota customer service in groveport Oh.The weight of the 570lbs is to much for the RTV 900.coobie

I just finish the installation of my new Blizzard 680LT on the RTV 900. I can imagine a snow plow better than this one, amazing!

Well made, robust, easy to attach/detach, great joy stick control and not so heavy.

I suggest you to sell your Curtis and buy a Blizzard snow blade.

I kept the curtis and had Michigan Iron & equipment company do some refabrication to the front mounting system. They beefed up the front mounting system, cutting edge from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch,HD skid shoes, added front hyd.outlets and single joystick, easy attach&detach.I think this setup looks more heavy duty than the blizzard plow.I figure I saved over $1100 going this route.Blizzard has priced there 680LT plows out of sight here $3500 bucks, that is the reason I went this route.I also want to add when I was looking on Blizzards website it said that there plows are only 16ga.steel.I wonder if that is a typo error? My curtis is 11 ga. steel.

I paid 3200$ for the Blizzard in US and the Curtis is 2500$ here in Canada so easy choice for me! The Blizzard may not use heavy grade of steel plate but things I like is the torsion box on the blade, the heavy duty frame mount and the overall solidity of the entire setup.

Good luck on your project.

They originally came out with the coils to help with the cab kits to counteract the front sag. Then they realized that guys were putting on snow plows then came out with the full strut assembly that is suppose to be installed when the above 2 are installed. I can't remember the difference in the new strut apart from the heavier coil,.. might have to ask my rep this week.

If you want try modifying the front coils to handle 1/2" spacers to raise the front a bit. Also on a side note,.. the plow will have most of the weight on the ground apart from here and there, so its not like you are consistently driving it around like a winch bumper or something.

You will have to add weight to the rear

I order only the HD front coil because I never found the difference of the complete struts. If the struts are different, I will pay for the struts but if it's only the coil, I can take 1 hout to change it on the original struts.

Where I can see the complete difference between struts vs coil upgrade?

Here info found on the Kubota web site about spring vs struts

V4219 Front Heavy Duty Springs
Genuine Kubota Parts - Built For Quality
The V4219 Spring Kit includes two coil springs that must be assembled onto the original struts using special spring compression tools. The V4209 Front Heavy Load Strut Kit or the V4219 Front Heavy Load Spring Kit is required when installing a cab or golf cage on a RTV900 Utility Vehicle. The V4219 needs to be loaded on the strut. Requires special tools.
