I had to Google "May baskets." That tradition had already died out, if it ever existed, in the part of NC were I was raised.

I just had a flashback. When I was in the 1st or 2nd grade (1953-54), my school had a May Pole dance. I remember that I had to wear a set of long underwear that my Mom had dyed green -- I suppose I was portraying an elf.
I don't remember another such dance. It may have been a one-off event or the end of a tradition.:confused3:
