Guys-
There is a chance that we will be selling our 35 acres and moving to STL. If I do, I will be selling my 06 JD 3520 with 300 CX loader, HD bucket, Filled R-4s with only 100 hours on the whole package. I bought this tractor new less than a year and a half ago. It is in perfect condition and needs nothing. It has been serviced per the manual. I love this tractor and I have taken care of it properly. It will come with everything a 3520 comes standard with as well as JD forward lighting kit, JD toothbar on the 5' HD bucket and a few other things. It has been used to spread gravel and clear a little brush, as in less than 2 acres. The majority of the hours came from pulling a 60" woods finish mower that I have since sold. So it is in "cherry" condition. I know this is not a for sale forum but if I end up moving, I will need to sell before I move to avoid having to take it with me and then sell or put on consignment. I couldnt think of a better place to list it than here. I also am not sure what a reasonable asking price would be. I know that I have well over $22.5 K in it and it is barely broken in and still under full warranty that I think is transferable. As well as letting potential buyers know it is for sale, I was hoping you all may let me know what a fair price would be. Again, it is as near new in condition as a tractor can be. It also has I match. Thanks a lot.

Would like to add that the tractor has been stored in my garage since new. And you can tell it by looking at it. I wash it regularly and have put 2 coats of wax on it since it was new.

I think that RN Johnson in Walpole NH has a couple of low hour 3520's for sale, and I think the price was around $19,500 if that helps. Too bad you have to sell such a great tractor..... and too bad it is too big for my needs. You can look at http//www.rnjohnson.com

jmt-

I have informally been looking to sell my 3720 recently, as it is a bit too much sizewise for my current needs. I am in Western NC and here is what I have found. Generally the 3720's are going for around $17,000-$18,000 with similar hours to yours with a loader. If you have loaded tires, the I match hitch and any other features such as e hydro, auto cruise, third SCV or mid PTO, those seem to add (collectively) about $1K to the asking price. Since yours is a 3520, rather than a 3720, you would be looking at a reasonable selling price of around $16,000-$17,500 as a range, assuming you have most, if not all, the features listed above with the loader. You could certainly ask for a little more and you might find the "right person" to give that to you, but there unfortunately are some harsh realities at play here:

1. The machine is in its nadir of value. JD machines of this size tend to have their least value to relative use at between 70-200 hours. After that, their value tends to flatten out. Thusly, one can sell a 500 hour machine for pretty close to what one can sell a 200 hour machine provided they are in similar condition.

2. The time of year is bad. I cannot say this is the case totally, but I am good friends with three different JD dealers in three different areas of the state and they each say it is really slow this time of year. Maybe in other areas this is less the case, but you and I share similar locale.

3. JD promotions are hurting you. JD is still offering some promotional deals on new machines, that allows someone without the upfront cash or desire to outlay a lot of money on the front end to buy a new machine through JD. To compete with the company your price would need to be substantially lower to peak interest.

My advice here would be either, first, to say that your machine will likely bring the price listed above and prepare for that or, second, to say that price is unacceptable and advertise it and be willing to wait to sell it. Even holding on to the machine until spring might bring you an extra $1,000-2000 so if you can--I would. I hope this helps.

jmt,

One more thing. I hope I did not sound too negative in my previous post. I did not mean to be. I have been through some of this research recently myself and was a bit disappointed with my initial findings. There are still opportunities out there to sell a 3520 for $19,000 or higher and I am sure your machine is in mint condition. I just do not think it is something to bank on. I would prepare for a $17,000 sale and if you get more that would be gravy. It would also allow you to see whether you really want to sell a great machine if you are not getting more than this for it. Please remember, though, if you could keep it a bit longer your relative value will level out.

Mine is an eHydro unit and it is in mint condition. I also have a Frontier BB2060 with it. I would hold onto it before I took too big a hit. Your points are all reasonable and I didnt take you negatively. Thanks.
