JD 455
Gentlemen: Can someone advise me if a MC519 collection system will operate with my JD 455 with the JD hard sided cab attached. I am not going to take my cab off so I want to make sure that nothing rubs or interfers with the cab. My dealer does not know except to say "It looks like it should". Great dealer but obviously they have not dealt with this situation before. I rather would have the MC 519 over the rear bagger system. If anyone has first hand experience I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

I had a JD 455 with the hard side cab and yes the MC519 will work with the cab on with the 54” deck. With the doors on you will not be able to open the right hand door as the tube is in the way. Also the rear window has to be out or you can not release the unload lever with out getting out. The tube did rub slightly on the side of the cab at the right rear corner. That might have been corrected by moving the cart over one more bolt hole, but as I remember that would mean that it would have only three of the four holes left to match up. If you have a 60” deck this should not be any issue.

Thank you Holiday for this information. The only fly in the ointment is I have a 48" deck vs your 54". If you can recall, is there some room to play with the tube if I wanted to shape it a bit to get around the cab? Also, how durable was the covering on the cart itself? Some have mentioned that it is prone to cracking after a short time? I appreciate your time.

Hi Brian. The tube is basically where it is and I don’t know how it could be changed. You can adjust the MC519 mounting to move it further to the right. I would think it would have to be set it as far to the right as possible with a 48” deck and might not have enough clearance.

I still have the MC519 and configured it to use with my 2305. It has the original cover and is still in good condition. It is four years old and has been kept inside when not in use.

My 519 cart has the same 'top' as in 1999 when I bought it. I blew a hole in it from leaves, hickory nut shells, and sticks getting blown against it (and the mice ate some of the netting when they nested in it a couple winters), but I patched it two years ago with some sticky-faced rubber (used around windows in new homes under siding) and it has kept working very well (I bought a new cover two years ago and so far still on the old one).

Getting ready to go after the 2005 leaves tomorrow. Have to make a change to the hyd. hoses to fit my X485, as I've been using it on my old 445 until now. Also, had to make a new U-bracket to fit the X, and didn't keep the sliders that latch to the stubs, and just bolted it directly with lock nuts.
