McCormick CT28V 2010
I have a 2010 CT28V that has lost ability to move in the high gear range. I have low range in 1,2,3 with movement at 15k rpm. Any ideas what the problem is?

hey CJ I found this

Apparently the loader control handle breaks alot. Your dealer probably knows about this and is dragging his feat or it's an expensive repair, maybe you have to relace the whole valve?
I suggest you post this in the Mcormick forum and you'll get some results for sure. Add some more informaation about your type of drive train(hydrostatic) and anything else about how this problem started

Mr. Brown,

Thanks for the information and the reply. I am new at tractoring and forums. I did go to the McCormick specific forum and post a new tread. For someone with 3 masters degrees and a A license soccer coach, I feel really stupid. I have posted three treads and yours is the only reply. Thanks

Do you not trust your dealer? This is clearly a warranty matter, not your problem to repair. You may want to be armed with info first, but it's still on your dealer's head. Anything you haven't said?

:laughing:Milkman,
I liked your response. Like an old avaitor told me, When a young pilot taxis up to the fuel dump, he can stay back a distance, but an old pilot has to taxi up closer because his manifold pressure is not what it was. Maybe your tractor needs needs to have the manifold check:laughing:

I would not say that I don't trust my dealer, it is more that past performance with the dealer has not been the best. I am also one that wants to learn how to fix problems, not just go on trust. I have changed out my fuel, air, and oil filters yesterday, but have not seen any improvement. I get motion in low 1,2,and 3. I get motion in fwd and reverse and acceleration. But when I go into high no matter how high I rev. the engine I do not get any fwd or reverse motion. The engine will rev up to over 25k rpm. I am not a mechanic Thus I am at a lost. It has 4 low and 4 high manuel gears plus 4 wheel drive. I have been digging a pond for irrigation for the soccer fields.

Does it make any grinding noises or smells when in high range? Does it have full pulling/pushing power when in low range?

Grinding noise would indicate internal gear problems.

Funny smell might be an out of adjustment or toasted clutch. Same for lack of power.

Also, I know what you are saying but I don't think your tractor turns 15k rpm or 25k rpm, that's 15000 or 25000 rpm, so maybe more like 1.5k or 2.5k.

No grinding noise, but do remember a smell a couple of months ago. As for the rpm 1/1000 means one thousand revs per minute correct. I did check that on the tractor. This engine does run high rpms, sounds like. Can hydr. in the two stage transmission cause the problem. I am learning a bunch about tractors over this which only makes me a better tractor owner.
