Good Morning.
I purchased my first tractor about 1 1/2 years ago (a 2004 McCormick GX50H) and ran into a problem. Everything was working fine and I was trying to bust through some hard snow this past winter and went to back up and there was nothing but grinding. Went to move forward and the same thing. No/very little movement. Shut it down and let it sit until could research a bit. I thought maybe low on Hydro fluid so added some but no change. Now thinking internal.
I am trying to find someone local to take a look, but they're either not interested or telling me to expect ~5k + parts (if they can be found) to break it apart and see. That was a gut punch but I don't want an expensive lawn ornament. I find out this is not a common brand or model in the US so information is limited.

Saw this thread from a while ago and I was hoping someone may have some thoughts or things I can look at to start with. I was going to pull the filters and see if there are any metal shavings or anything in there prior to taking it in. I might be able to check pressures but would need to gather the gauges and stuff to do that. I'm pretty tractor dumb but overall mechanically competent if I know what I need to do.
Thanks very much for any help you are willing to provide.

my latest project tractor: a 2003 McCormick GX50H
Well, it's been a long time since I had a broken tractor to fix, and now I have a new one. This is a 50hp hydrostatic tractor, made by Landini in Italy, a GX50H. It uses a 4-cylinder Yanmar Diesel, and features a compact size (only slightly longer than my CK30) with 4x4 and lockable front AND...
