I see that big grin on your face...I know how you felt since when I was about that same age I learned to drive one of uncles tractors...Memories, how they linger..

Had that same experience. And remember the farmer I worked for buying a new 50 about 1954 and had power steering. I was 15 at the time. Much more fun, but less power than the G JD I'd been driving on a hay baler while custom baling for all the neighbors. When I was 10, I had to stand up like that just to reach the clutch and the brakes while driving a hay wagon to pick up loose bales from the fields. Great fun, and great memories.

Oh you had a Cadillac! This is what we had on our Indiana farm. To start it you had to crank the flywheel manually! Still remember the putt...putt...putt

My dad had a 50 on our farm, with the wide wheels. I ran it off a raised roadway and almost completely cleared a fence. Thought all was good, since there was no apparent damage and my father didn't know. The next morning he started it up and moved 10 feet and the front axle broke completely. I had to fess up. I had a ton of unpleasant chores to do for months.

We also had an old crank start JD to pull the other out of the mud in the winter - a common occurrence in the Virginia mountains. I remember that the flywheel would kick back and nearly break your arm if you weren't careful. I was afraid of it.
