I've just bought a 2011 Mechron with 280 hours (it's actually a Bad Boy Buggies XD, but same machine). It makes a very loud whining noise while accelerating. It's quieter when coasting, but not silent. I'm sure it's coming from the transmission or one of the differentials. I test drove another one before buying this one and I don't recall hearing the noise, but I have heard it on at least one youtube video. I'm hoping there are some Mechron owners here who can say if it's normal.
