Medium duty insurance and tags cost Texas?

Hello,

Wondered if anyone has an idea how much ins and plates would cost on a 23,000 or 25,990 lb hydraulic brake med duty truck. International or Chevy -Gmc topkick style. For personal use, liability only - truck will be old and wont need colision coverage. Me - 43 years old , no claims ever, one speeding ticket probably 2 years ago.

It depend on how you tag it. I have my class 7 Pete tagged as a motorhome and it is 220.00 a year for 26k. You can get it tagged as a heavy duty truck and it will run @ 70.00 more a year. I have insurance through Instant Insurance Quotes by PoliSeek I have my Rv trailer through them also.

One of my brothers bought a new F550 a couple of years ago. I don't know what it costs, but he told me he had a devil of a time, both with his insurance company and at the registration office because those folks just could not understand a "commercial" vehicle being registered as a personal vehicle. He bought his to pull their 38' fifth-wheel RV that they live in full time.

Yea Bird after the deer in the headlight looks I had to show them the Texas laws on it so I could get mine done, they don't do it regularly so they don't know. The only place in Texas that sees alot of it is in Livingston since all the fulltimers & bigger tow rigs.

Well guys I bought this two weeks ago: 1988 C-60 23,900 gvw. pto hydr tilt bed , 22.5 budd wheels.

It had a fresh insp sticker and the plates are good til feb,2011. My AAA insurance added it on to my policy for about $60 a month.

When I went to the tag office to transfer it over the girl said the current registration is for 25,000 lb and that at renewal time I could change that amount if wanted. I asked her how much the renewal fee will be at 25k or lower or higher amount and she said she didnt know and she said she cant find out either :confused2: and that when I get the renewal in the mail in 6 or 7 months then I will know....
