I had read that chihuahuas tend to be nervous, snappish, only get along well with their own breed and family, will pick fights they're bound to lose with bigger dogs, etc. I guess Dee forgot to read that. She loves everyone and everything and is just looking for someone to play. I do worry about her with other dogs, because she'll run straight to them to see if they'll play, but so far she's just always made friends with them.

So much of it depends on how and when they are separated from the litter and mother. It continues with socialization and how they are treated early. They actually state various milestones in the developmental stages of a puppy's brain right down to the day for some points. I'm guessing Dee never needed to read that chapter because she was too busy learning how to be part of a new family.

I believe any breed can be made mean through its upbringing. I've even seen a few nasty Labs and when I saw how they were handled, could understand it.
