Merry Christmas TBN..... 25 years

Good Afternoon Guys,
Just thought I would share this with everyone for the holidays ! We have been going out on the sunday before Christmas for many many years to deliver candy canes and popcorn balls to all the kids in our district !

This year was extra special, my two boys were with me, Doug to my right, youngest 25, and Dan to my left 27, the snow was commin down pretty good and the holiday was definitely in the air !

The old guy is one of our senior members, 87, he is Corky and has been doing this forever !

What a great tradition !

BTW this is New England at its best !!!

Hey Scotty, Looks like fun. Did you all ride on the Firetruck to deliver the candycanes? Looks pretty cold from the way you were dressed. We had a cold front come thru here. Its 48 degrees and clear here today. We are usually warmer this time of year. Terry

Nice tradition indeed. It would be really cool if you had photos of each year's group for the entire 25 years to hang in the fire station.

That's great, Scotty. The Dallas Police Department started a "Santa Cops" program years ago in which any officer can submit a little one page form when he/she finds a family he/she thinks needs the help, a volunteer committee of department employees (both sworn and civilian) buys the gifts and prepares a basket, including the makings for a traditional Christmas dinner, for each of those families, and a day or two before Christmas, uniformed officers, wearing the Santa hats, deliver those packages. When the program started, I was already a captain so I never participated in making the deliveries, but I sure was glad to participate financially.

Hi Scotty,

Thanks for posting, it's nice to hear stories like yours and how just a few people can make a huge difference. You'll probably never know what good you've done for those people, or how you've changed their lives, but I know for sure that they will remember it for the rest of their lives.

Thanks for the kind words ! It was a bunch of fun and the falling snow made it just a bit more like Christmas !

Jim, in answer to your question, yes we did take pictures just about every year. The only problem is that, only about the last 10 years are digital ! Before that we were taking the pics with film, and who knows where they all are !
