I bought a used MF 5455 from a dealer and changed the hydraulic and transmission oil and the filters had quite a bit of metal in them. I cannot hear no noise like a gear or bearing going bad. I know that wet disc brakes contribute some metal in the oil but this seems excessive. The tractor has a wet clutch and a power shuttle transmission with a two speed powershift. I know that a lot of 30, 40, 50, and 55 series John Deeres had a lot of problems with metal in the oil. I have changed oil in numerous tractors for us and other people and have seen some amounts of metal on the oil usually from the wet disc brakes but like I said this seems excessive. the tractor has 4 filters in it, one suction hydraulic filter and one high pressure hydraulic filter and a filter for the wet clutch and the power shuttle. Wonder if any of you has heard of any cases of this in these series of tractors.
