Last winter I bought a used (about 10 yr) 60" meteor to put on my B7800 for $650.00 CDN. I think it throws the snow about 20 ft but might throw farther if I adjusted the chute differently. 20 ft works O.K. for me but I've read where some people have theirs throwing 50 ft. The gap between the fan blades and the fan housing is about 1/4" so if you got one where this tolerance was closer it might throw farther- don't know. I don't have any issues with it - works fine for me. I just have a manual chute rotator but being on a small tractor I have no trouble reaching it from the seat. It seems like the snow wipes the chain lube off of the chain that drives the auger about as fast as I can put it on so I might look at putting some sort of guard over the chain to keep the snow off it, but it hasn't caused me any trouble so far. I wasn't prepared for the fine snow blowing in my face if the wind changes, so a balaclava is necessary if you don't have a cab. Somebody else once posted that they use a heated snomobile helmet. Sounds like a good idea to me.Good luck with your search-at least you've still got lots of time to look before the snow flies.(Hopefully)
I have a 60" Meteor that has been on my B2410 for 5 years now and was used on my previous bota before that.
Paid around $1,300 new for it back in the mid 90s.
I added some new skid shoes but other than that and a new drive chain, it has performed well. Mine shoots 50 feet easily.
I have a smaller one - 44" I think - on my BX.
I bought it new last year for $1000.
It blows snow just fine. I've only used it four time I think, and only two of those were "real" snows.

I have a 60" Meteor with hydraulic rotation and hydraulic chute deflection on my B2410. It works well, but I have a fairly short drive and the distance I throw the snow is really irrelevant to me. I've never really understood why throwing snow 50' is better than 20'. As long as I get it out of driveway, how far it goes becomes irrelevant for my use. That said, I think the common wisdom is that closer fan tolerance equals further snow throwing. Closer tolerance and weight are also often associated with general build quality. There are other choices like the Pronovost and the Blizzard where I think you will find they have closer tolerance and more weight. However, for my use, the Meteor is more than adequate.
When you need to keep a larger area open or throw the snow in your direction of travel, such as cleaning out an "L" shape, getting it a distance away means you don't have to run over it twice!!
