mtnextreme Howdy, I'm sure you can put AGs on that tractor you will just need the right size in which a quick consult with a dealer should give the accurate sizes for that tractor (usually the current size but in AG)...
Well as for the value: I went to iron search a saw one for 12,900 with canopy ,loader,ag's,garaged , condition 10 (best, like new) however it did not say how many hours? I tried to post the link but I'll have to learn all over again since the server upgrade...
I own the MF 1040 FWD, have used it since Jan 04. I have 1455 hrs on it now. It had a MF 232 loader on it when I bought it. I payed $6000 and have not put a lot of money into it since purchasing. New front tires and fixed a few odss and ends. Changed all fluids and filters. I have ags all the way around. My engine is the same as thr one in the 1045. I believe my machine is a little heavier. I will include a pic of my tractor. Good luck.
1986 MF 1040, 1942 Farmall A, 1949 Farmall Super A
The MF 1040 is a brute ! I call it the beast Its got 8-16 ags on the front and 13.6- 24 on the rear. The tires are not loaded so I use a 35 gal drum filled with concrete and rocks off the 3pt for a counter weight. Its a geared machine with three speed ranges. I usually bush hog in mid range 4th gear about 3.5 mph. The 32 hp diesel has very good power and does about everything that I need to do on my property.
If your not that knowledgable about tractors I suggest you take a tractor person with you to check this machine out. They can spot things that you wouldnt normally see.
Feel free to ask anything and I will try and help!
Where are you getting the parts, directly from the Agco dealer or have you found an internet source, does this machine cross over to anything else, mostly everything does.
