MF 1230/Iseki TF325FH - locking rear wheel

My hydrostatic 325 (same as MF 1230?) locks it's rear left wheel constantly. Backing up in reverse seems to unlock it. The final drive housing on the left side gets hotter than the right side. I just changed the oil and it was clean and clear.
Any suggestions as to what may be causing this, and how I fix?

Hi Have you checked to see if the brake is sticking? Does the tractor seem to pull to that side?

Thought it might be that, but not sure how to check, but as the final drive housing seems to be geting hot I thought the problem may be in there? Could it be the brake causing the heat?

The brakes could be causing the heat also. The tractor has fluid brakes and they are in the housing next to the transmission housing. Normally fluid brakes run cooler that disc or drum brakes, but if you have one locked in it could still get hot. To check move one of the brake peddles and watch under the floor board. Then, do the other pedal and watch on the other side. If one of them has less movement, then that is the one that needs to be looked at. It may be as simple as a stick in something or a bent rod that you could straighten.

Phil & Jerry - I disconnected all the connecting rods and as you suggested it was the brakes! The arm leading into the Trans/brake was very stiff - lack of use I expect! So half an hour on my back bent around the FEL frame wiggling to and fro and it's good as gold! Thanks Guys! I just needed the confidence to have a go, rather than dispair and call a dealer!
