Thanks for your assistance with that 165 gasser (still considering it) but now I'm looking at a 135 diesel. Seller is unsure of the year, but it looks like a late 60s or early 70s model - I forgot to grab the s/n.
Cranks and runs fine, no smoke or excessive knock, great rubber, no PS, no multi-power. The lights don't work either, and I think the reason lies with an oddity I noticed - the guy replaced the original alternator with an automotive one. I assume he just never hooked up the lights after that. It seems to be installed well and there isn't much play in the belt. I will probably restore that back to original if I buy it. Tach also doesn't work. Shows ~350hrs so it's been replaced.
It has the usual leaks - tranny fluid & a bit of engine oil as well. I've seen much worse though.
I should be able to get this for $4k, including a couple of well-worn implements. He didn't like my initial $3k offer.
As I understand it, the lack of multi-power may actually be a plus for me since so much of my land is sloped (some of it is quite a good slope too). I really don't want any chance of a free-wheeling tractor since as my son grows he will use this tractor too. Is that correct about the MP?
Thoughts?
