Hi, Ive just finished overhauling a 1969 MF 135 hydraulic pump as the pump used to chatter away and couldnt lift much latterly. Ive got a manufacturers manual which i was working through to carry out the adjustments on the top lift cover. Unfortunately in order to carry out a lot of these adjustments, you need a few special tools. I dont have any of these, so improvised a bit. I refitted the top cover, control valve actuating roller etc and filled with oil. I started the engine and worked the quadrant levers up and down several times, then the arms started going up and down perfectly. After a while of doing this, i found the linkage started to judder slightly and a while later the linkage wouldnt move at all. It did move when i pushed the control valve actuating fork directly, so this (in my mind) points to incorrect top cover adjustments. I'll obviously need to remove the top cover to sort this out, but how do i go about carrying out the adjustments? Its hard to follow the manual due to the use of the special tools and it refering to a tractor which has pressure control fitted (Mines doesnt). Can anybody give me any advice on how to do the adjustments? Many thanks in advance.
