Hi All,
My MF 153 diesel looks like it needs a new solenoid on the starter. When I turn the key, there is no voltage on the connection from solenoid to the starter. It looks like it will be easier to just replace the solenoid than replace the entire starter/solenoid combo. To replace the whole starter I'm going to have to remove the power steeping hoses (they run from the pump over the starter to the steering wheel) and to remove the power steering hoses I'm going to have to remove the alternator.
So my question is: are there any tricks or issues with removing just the solenoid? Looks like 2 small bolts and electrical wires and it comes right off. But since I've never done this I'm not sure if there is anything inside the starter housing that I need to know about before pull it off??
Thanks,
Jeff
