MF 1428 Hydro won\'t go up hill

I am new to the hydro world. I was running in the fast "rabbit" setting on my hydro going up the road wide open in the green zone and hit a mild grade. I had too really let off the hydro pedal not to have the rpm drop below 1000. My MF was good and warmed up too. I am used to an old Ford "Red Belly" gas gear drive and was shocked to see the diesel show so little grunt. Is this normal or should I worry? Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Re: MF 1428 Hydro won\'t go up hill

As you are starting to go up the hill, you need to start easing up on the hydro pedal. There have been many that have tried to use the hydro pedal for an accelerator. When it actually is more like a shifter. The higher the pedal the lower the gear so to speak the transmission is in and the farther the pedal is down the higher the gear. If you have been doing it this way, please disregard all of the above.
The throttle will need to be set for the engine speed that you want to run with the hand lever and the ground speed adjusted with the hydro pedal.

Do you have fluid in the tires? My tractor had rear tires almost full of antifreeze mix when I bought it. I removed all I could from them and it made an extreme difference.
