I need to replace a leaking fuel pump. Currently my pump is before the fuel filter, that's the way the earlier models were. I would like to move things around, so that filtered fuel goes through the pump! It would be nice to see a picture, of how I could sent it up, if someone has that already. I have ordered the fuel pump that goes after the fuel filter and would like to get everything ready for the new installation. The difference between the pumps is the location of where the hoses attach , before the fuel filter the hoses come out from the sides, after the filter the hoses come from the top and bottom. The fuel pump that, is in use now, has the hoses attaching from the top and bottom, so it is zip tied to the hydraulic pressure line that conveniently passes by this area (something the previous owner did). Any help would be appreciated! IMG_2682.JPG

I would be cautious of trying to PULL fuel thru a filter that is designed to have it PUSHED thru.
Also, pumps in general do much better pushing liquid rather than drawing.
In systems with 2 filters, fuel is sometimes pulled thru the primary, but it is probable that the primary is a coarser micron rating.
Colder weather (temps) could also complicate that, as paraffin molecules do not like to pass thru filters.
Ideally, the closer the pump is to the tank, the better. A pressure leak is easy to find, but a suction leak will have you scratching your head.
If you can, try to retain the original components, so you could revert to that in case of fuel delivery problems.
I am curious as to why you want to change the fuel flow?

I thought it would be better for the life of the pump, to have filtered fuel going thru it. The later one is stocked by the dealer, the earlier one is a special order. According to my parts manual, the later model of the 1455, uses the same filter assembly and filter as my earlier model of the 1455. The only other apparent difference, other than the it's location with respect to the filter assembly, is the fuel pump and where the hoses attach on the different pumps. On one, the hoses attaches on the sides, the other, they attach at the ends of the pump. I'm now wondering with the one that's installed now is an aftermarket pump. Thanks, for your input!
