Lost oil pressure on my 150 with the Continental gas engine, and after taking the pump apart found the set screw on the smaller gear inside the housing broke apart. Unfortunately, it cut a deep groove into the back plate and scarred the housing pretty badly on the pump itself. I'm going to have to find another housing for my rebuild kit or get a reman pump, both of which appear to be in short supply.

So, three quick questions:

1. Unrelated to the problem, the joint midway up the intake tube between the screen and the pump is "floppy." Is that correct? I can't see how it could be sealed with that kind of movement.

2. How do you drill the pulley/shaft on the rebuild kit? I'm concerned that the hardened steel shaft will push the bit off into the aluminum and I'm going to end up with an oblong hole. Is there a trick to it or am I overthinking it?

3. Any tips on where to find a whole new (used) pump? Looked at a few on ebay, but that's a lot of nonrefundable money for a part with no guarantees or returns.

Thanks!
