Just got my 2011 1532 hydrostatic a couple of days ago and really enjoying it so far. The one thing that I would like to consider adding is a rear mounted utility light. I saw one comment in a review that there was "a connection in the wiring harness for the light".

Has anyone added a light and discovered where this connection point in the harness is? If I can add a light without tapping into wires that would be great.

As long as we are on the topic does anyone have suggestions on a good light setup? i.e. Mounting point, type of light (LED, Halogen), switch location.

On my MF 1531 the wire for the light was under the rear fender near the taillight.

Great. I will have a look tomorrow and see what is there. Does the wire have a connector to allow a suitable connection or did you have to add a connector?

It had a female bullet connector, one by each taillight.

Found them. Picked up a utility light with built in switch from the dealer for $20. The connector doesn't get switched off with ignition so just have to remember to turn it off :)

Where did you decide to mount them, on the ROPS bar or top of fender?

I didn't want to drill any holes so I made a steel bracket about 6" long and 1" wide. I mounted one end where the ROPS mounts to the frame and attached the light to the other end of the bracket. The two wires on the light had male bullet connectors. One snapped into the available connector and I put an electrical lug on the other wire and pinched that along with the bracket when I retightened the ROPS mounting nut. Easy peasy no drilling required :)

Some pics, like see your setup.

Here you go. I just found this random piece of metal and drilled a few extra holes to meet my needs. Black Tremclad to blend it in. The connector location is also shown. The connection has power even without ignition on so you need a switch.

Now I can easily reach the light from the seat.
