MF 1533
Hello, I have a 2009 MF 1533 with a DL120 loader. I have lost lifting on the loader for some unknown reason. The bucket tilts just find but the loader will not raise. I have checked the fluid levels and all are fine. When I apply pressure via the controler the loader acts like it wants to lift but will not almost like its binding or stuck. I tried to remove one of the pistons and try to operate out of the loader but no go. When I operated the control valve. the pistion moved about 1/4 of an inch and thats it. Any help?????

Have you check for any malfunctioning QD's?

Do you have full range on the spool? Does the spool move like it is supposed to. Does the hose jump when applying pressure

Does the loader relief activate when you try to lift?

Have you removed hoses and operated levers to see if the spools work correctly?

Have you checked the hyd pressure?

Are your filters all clean,, sump filter especially?

Have you removed work port hoses and placed in bucket to check flow? Have you swapped work port hoses to see if the problem will shift?

Are the return hoses open to tank? Any blockage?

I have the exact same tractor and year. My post could be exactly like yours, I have 589 trouble-free hours on my tractor, and while lifting snow yesterday, my loader did exactly the same as yours, except, my bucket raises and lowers, but does not tilt "forward." It's stuck in the back position. Your symptoms are exactly like mine.

I have full fluid - full range on spool and its moves well. Hoses jumps when applying pressure. It does move about an inch back and forth strongly. Just changed all filters, fluid - complete service about 30 hours ago. I'm not a mechanic, so I can't do a lot of things like removing hoses or cylinders. It's like a metal wrench is jammed into metal gears. All loader pins are in place, and all hoses are connected--not leaks--nothing looks odd. Just quit suddenly between dumps--no warning.

Ensure your 3pt lever in in the neutral position.

If you have QD's reset them.

Throw a tarp over the tractor and put a heater under it. Wait till all is nice and warm and then try it. Heat gun on the controls might also help?

Water in hydraulic oil or controls.??

Had the same problem bucket would not roll forward to dump. Check the quick disconnect fittings to loader. Bad design on these as mine pulled out just a bit. Hard to find. You will learn some new four letter words getting them plugged back in.

Hi J.J. Egon and Snuffy. Thank you for your suggestions.

J.J. I'm not sure what a "3-point lever is, or what QD's are.

Egon. It's been a long cold winter. I keep the tractor in and unheated shed and have a magnetic 200 watt heater stuck to the bottom of the oil pan. Yesterday, it was in the low 40's, and it still didn't work. Everything else, hydraulic wise works fine. Changed hydraulic fluid, filter, "everything" late this fall.

Snuffy. I checked the quick disconnect fittings and they look good. They're all of the way in. No leaks anywhere. So far, haven't had to use any four letter words. :)

I thank you guys for getting back to me.

J. J. If you could get back to me about the 3-point lever and QD's.

Open to anything else. Thanks again.

Bill

Those disconnects are real trash on the new Masseys. I have trained myself to look for those things every time anything acts up with the loader or hoe. You can';t just look at them either but rather have to grab on and give them a tug. The bypass hose that mine uses when the hoe is off is especially nasty. All it needs is a tiny bit of twist and it cocks just enough to block off all the flow. You can't see it visually either. That's the ugly part. It looks just fine until you grab onto it . Then you can feel it's slightly cocked. On the 1736 they have the loader QD's under that cursed plate. When one pops loose for me it's usually one of the middle ones that you can't get at to push back on. This is a real PITA since you have to remove the two bolts then the cover just to get at them. Even then you can't get a hold of the middle hoses tightly enough to push them in without pulling the outer one first. A really classy setup.

Update... I ended up taking my 1533 back to the dealer to be repaired. Dealer replaced 1 QD, and found that one of the inner seals-packing(?) on a cylinder had broken and a piece was lodged in the control valve. Had to spend $100 for tractor transportation, and $303 for parts and labor...YUK. I don't know whether that price is reasonable or not. It is very nice to have my tractor working right again though. :)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, and information that I "might" need to keep in mind for the future.
