MF 165D blow by? new crank & mains...

Can anyone tell me where the blow by pipe is on the MF 165D engine? Also, why would the crankshaft and main bearings need to be replaced besides normal wear & tear? How can I tell if the pistons & rings do not need replacement?

Vent pipe is on left side of block, near front IIRC.

Possible causes for premature bearing wear could include; Fuel leaking into crank case (via leaky injector pump, leaking primary fuel lift pump, ect) ......Coolant leaking into crank case via a number of sources......lack of proper service of oil/filters.....among hundreds of other possibilities. Fuel leaks are not UNcommon, and may have even occurred years ago with bearing wear escalating from that point forward.

Worn/broken rings USUALLY are accompanied by excessive blowby, lack of compression, poor starting (due primarily to lack of compression..) excessive oil consumption, and obvious lack of power. Worn pistons CAN cause a "noisy" engine...not to mention possible catastrophic engine failure if left as is.

On an engine that typically last's 40+ years under normal circumstances, I'd always replace pistons and sleeves if I was going as far as rings....If you get ANOTHER 40 years out of the second set, it aughtta outlast most of us!
