Hello all, amateur here. I'm new to owning my first tractor (MF 1710 subcompact). Have less than 5 hours on it and had a freak accident: While clearing some brush my front right tire air valve was torn off. I've ordered a new tire but need advice fixing the problem from some seasoned tractor folks. Seems to me the easiest way to get the tire off is to lift the front end off the ground with the loader. Then remove the tire, go get it fixed and bring back to re-attach. I can place a hydronic jack under the font axial to support the weigh with the front loader. What I don't know if I turn off the engine will the front end loader eventually give way. Or is it a bad idea to keep that much weight on the front loader. Okay, so someone set me straight on how best to change this tire. Thanks in advance for the help!

As you said, raise up the front with the loader. Place wood blocking under both sides of the front axle, or just the side you want to remove, and lower, making sure it's high enough to remove the tire. Remove/install repaired tire, then use the loader to lift, remove blocking.

You are right, just raise up the front wheel with your loader an block it up. Just painted my rims a month ago, an took the wheel off the same way.

These guys are right on the money, I have changed more than one tire that way. The only thing is I would break the lug nuts/bolt loose before raising the tractor. Just loosen them, raise the tractor and the finish removing the tire. If you dont, when you try to loosen the lug nuts/volts the whole tire will go around and around.

We use the bucket to pick up the front end and put jack stands under the front axle on the side of the tractor tire we need to have fixed just as the others have mentioned.

Rmcahall,

The others have all done a good job answering your question. But there is another part to the answer also. That part is why you wouldn't do it only with the fel holding holding up the tractor .

1. When you have the fel hydraulics pressurized, gradually when the tractor is shut off, that pressure will decline. It may take minutes or tens of minutes but it will reduce and eventually without blocking the axle would be touching ground.

2. The second reason you want blocking is if your joystick gets bumped or moved when the tractor is shut off - it can drop very quickly. Whether it's children or animals or your own body parts. . . You don't want something between the fel and the ground that could get crushed by the fel dropping down unexpectedly.

If I'm reading the original post correctly you should not need a new tire, if the valve stem was on a tube, a replacement valve stem can be glued onto your exsisting tube, if its a tubeless tire all you need is a valve stem.Either way as has been stated just lift it with your loader after breaking the lug nuts loose, block it and go to work.
Also, if the tractor would be easier to work on if it was moved lower your bucket to lift the front end clear or at least unload the flat tire curl the bucket down a little past flat and back up to where it will be easier to work on it, steer it using your individual wheel brakes.
