MF 175 lines leaking in Bellhousing

A friend has an early 70's 175 that has hyd lines that come from a cooler in the front and goes down the starter side of the engine and goes into the bellhousing .
One line is plugged so I hooked up the lines like they where supposed to be and fluid then leaked out of the clutch inspection hole in the bottom once I started the tractor.

What is the line for?

If it's the lines I think your taking about those lines actually go to the oil cooler at the front of the rad also further up at the front of the rad there's also a screen type filter up there that can be washed out.It's lines that come from the tractor hydralics that run the multi power clutch pack.The only way to fix that line is to actually split the tractor.So basically its a oil cooler and also a bit of a hydralic oil filter for the cooling of the hydralic oil etc and filtering.Don't get me wrong but there's also another type of filter screen right off the hydralic pump inside the housing as well which can be cleaned as well once the tractor is split and taken apart.Its one heck of away to have to clean that filter where the one at the front of the rad just un screws and comes apart for cleaning.So thats what those lines do.Sorry to be the bearer of any bad luck.The only way to fix that line is to split the tractor. Thanks for the info.
I did some more digging and the tractor is not a multi power tractor.

Took the cover off that contains the shifters and the line actually has a fitting inside the gearbox where the line goes through and you can unhook it there and no fluid will go to the front cooler so I am sure that is the line.
If the line is plugged( which is how the tractor was purchased) you can hear a noise like the hyd are up against the pressure relief.
If you unhook it and let it dump in the gear case the noise goes away.

I'll try this again hopefully it won't log out before I post this reply.Your doing exactally what you say your plugging a line comming from a auxilliary pump that sits on top of the main pump in the trans.This line comes from that pump and pushes oil through the cooler and filter thats at the front so to make it short and sweet to keep from ruining the pump your going to have to split that tractor and fix that line otherwise it's going to get costly pretty quick.I'd advised not using it the way it was bought.Sorry to be blunt but its one of these things that needs to be fixed proper Good luck and sorry to be the bearer of bad news As always Larry

So basically the aux pump was dead headed with the line plugged?

It is not my tractor so I can only recommend to my friend what to do .LOL'
I already recommended to him that we need to split it and fix it but he is looking for an easier fix.
He actually has left the aux line loose in the gear box so that it just dumps there essentially rendering it with no pressure on the aux circuit.
He plans on fixing it later but we shall see.
