I have a 1974 mf 20 industrial. Had some things go bad in the rear end. After taking it apart and getting into the rear end I found that I have to just about replace everything in it. I can't believe it was that torn up. I am a little concerned that I might not be able to get all the parts I need for it. So if anyone has a good sorce for parts I am all ears. My other option was to find a whole rear end and swap it out from the clutch back. I have a friend who has a mf 245 but I am not sure if it will match up or if it is doable. It might be a crazy idea but am all ears to some insight from people who know the ins and outs on theses machines. Scraping this tractor is not an option. It has been in my family since I was a little boy. I want to give it to my son some day. Just want to fix it right and be able to use it for wha it was intended for. Thanks in advance for any help.

What all is broken in the axle?
Pinion drive gear, planetary gear, sun gear, dif lock, and there isn't any bearings or shims left. Basically everything but the axles are bad. I am concerned that the rest of the tranny and hydraulic system could be compromised by sitting in real bad hydraulic oil that had a lot of metal floating around I it. All of the seals will need to be replaced. I will also need to put a new clutch in because the bad seal let the fluid get to the clutch.

The Industrial 20 is based off of a 135, so you may be able to get one of those to use as a donor. Alternatively (depending on where you are in Ohio), there is an Industrial 20 in New London on craigslist: massey ferguson MF 20 TRACTOR
