MF 231S
I have MF 231S with FEL. The hydraulic pump that operate the FEL just stop working, Pump is located in front of tractor as noted in picture. Pump has a shaft that goes into something I guess that turns with the crankcase. With the motor off, I can turn the shaft freely with out any problem which mean something have happen inside that area. Have anyone have this problem if so what is the process of fixing this issue. Thanks in advance :confused2:

happened on my ford 3000 with vickers pump
my guess is MF uses a similar set up got most of my parts from Yesterdays tractors except for the splined shaft that is installed in the Vickers Vane pump itself. i would try them after draining the hydraulic oil out and then figuring out which set of splines has stripped out

Splines stripped ?

Are you talking about splines stripped on the crankcase of side? I have removed the radiator but shaft will not come out of front of tractor. Do I have to disassemble the front end from engine.

I have a 240 with 232 front end loader and I have had issues with the driveshaft to the pump failing at the braise joint of the shaft to the splined part. To shafts in a year from Agco. Bad batch? I have also had the adapter plate that the driveshaft screws into wobble because of failed rubber bushings which led to the spline connection with the pump eating the pump splines. In both those scenarios the shaft was spinning but not driving the pump. I had to replace the adapter plate, the shaft and the pump. The shaft was a left-hand thread and I was able to back it out of the adapter plate by putting the tractor in fourth gear high range and putting a pipe wrench on the shaft and turning it clockwise. Before you get too complicated I would check the connection with the pump by taking loosening the two bolts holding the pump. I hope this helps. image.jpeg

Do the coupler at end of shaft have splines? If not, how is it turning the pump?

What did you use for coupling? That might will help my problem
