How would one change the power steering fluid on a 231S? Problem is the fluid level is low and I don't know what fluid was used previously to fill the unit. I assume Permatran III, but I don't know for sure since 10W30 is also listed as an acceptable fluid. For that reason I thought I would change it out.

What "I" would do is this... What ever fluid you would like to use get 3x the amount needed, remove all the old fluid, add new fuild, work the system, drain, add again and so on. I think that would get you a clean system for your new fuid. I am sure there some things you could use for cleaning, but I think the new fluid would be the best to do the cleaning job.
Well, I found out that the fluid in question is kind of reddish in color(I beleive it to be permatran III) by sticking a straw in to the resevoir. I have purchased some permatran III and will now top it off. Thanks.
