Actually, in my case the hair (or R) pins were on the inside and inserted all the way. The area that I had the problems in has heavy brush including some big "jagger" bushes. When I cut there I put both legs on the right side of the tractor to get the mower underneath the brush.
The brush will be removed soon and I won't have to worry about it. With the bolts I put in using nylon insert nuts I don't worry about it now, just want to get rid of it.
Hopefully the wheel assembly will be in soon, along with the toothbar I ordered.
