Thanks for the responses to my previous question.

I found that I could move the controls by using a little more force. I think the control rods are stuck with dirt, rust and paint. I will remove the assembly: control levers, connecting rods, control valves, and mounting bracket -- however; another question please:

I found some brass compression caps that fit the fluid ports on the side plate. I'm wondering if it's safe to use these brass fittings on hydraulic lines that might carry pressures up to 2000 psi?

If I could cap the fluid lines to the remote hydraulic assembly, then I could use the tractor while the remotes are overhauled.

Any input appreciated, thanks.

Use only properly sized brass or steel threaded plugs to cap ports. You may have to buy an adapter fitting that will accept the plug but this is a normal occurance.

Prince ships their valves with plastic plugs in all ports that MUST be removed and plugged properly before operation. Hydraulichosefittings.com has the plugs and they are inexpensive.

I'm not sure exactly where you are trying to cap these off, but if you have a separate auxillary pump, it is an open center pump and needs to have the lines looped so the oil can still flo, otherwise it Will pump at constant full pressure, and bypass at the relief valve, creating alot of heat. No Bueno.

What type of terrain are you covering. I've never seen an orchard models tread width adjusted that wide. You can tell by the pic that it has wet brakes. It's one of the best tractors ever produced in the 40 to 50hp range.

I was just wondering too, not meaning to move the tread off topic, but how did you get the tyres so far out?
thanks

The center disc of the wheel is reversible, which will moves the location tabs for the wheel in or out. The tabs on the wheel can be placed inside the the disc or outside as well as being placed to where the the tabs are on the inside of the wheel or to the outside. By moving the above positions the the wheels have about 6 different width setting.
