I have a mf 245 that has the hydraulic diverter valve under the seat that controls whether or not I can use the 3pt or the loader. My question is, what is the name of the valve? it went bad and I need to order another one and want to get the right one. And maybe a good place to get it.

I do believe that your looking at the wrong place for the probleme ? Mybe your problem is in the diffhousing at the hydraulicpump ?

Well the valve under the seat actually makes it where you can use the 3 pt or loader. It's a small box with a knob on it. Looks factory. The knob pulled out of the box n is leaking hyd fluid.

Its actually the whole thing that is connected to the knob that came out.

I have to assume that the under-the-seat valve you are talking about is the flow combiner valve. The purpose for it is not to shut off the 3pt lift. The purpose is to combine the flow from the 3pt lift pump with the flow from the the main hydraulic pump to power such things as the loader and other things via your remotes. With the valve in the "combine" mode the full flow of both pumps is available so for example your loader runs faster & is more robust. When in the 'combine' mode the 3pt lift will not operate, but that's a side effect, not the purpose.

This is true on my MF 2660 so I am assuming the function would be the same on your MF245. I would think you could have the parts dept. at any MF dealer look it up for you which does not obligate you to buy it from them or have them repair it. Still, I would think the dealer is the place to start. I'd be very surprised if the whole valve and control is in a neat little box on the outside of the chassis. I'd think the valve is down inside the chassis and what you see on top is just a cover for the control lever (??) If you don't have access to a shop manual [or some awesome experience among the guys listening on here] you are in need of a dealer consultation anyway.

I have a MF240 and it has a valve that takes the hydraulic flow from the internal pump and diverts it from the 3pt to my loader. I am not sure what it is called but here is a picture of it.

I will see if I can find a name for it. It installs in place of the "Transfer Cap" as seen in Fig. 209

Update: Looks like they are called isolator valves or diverter valves.

I removed mine, disassembled it, cleaned it, inspected the O-rings, reassembled it and reinstalled it. No runs, no hits, no errors. No new parts needed. Most often, this valve just needs disassembly and cleaning to restore operation and eliminate leaks. Cleaned it with spray carb cleaner and reassembled it with some silicone spray. If you need O-rings, many autoparts stores carry an O-ring selection. My Ace hardware has a good selection of O-rings.
