MF 2605
I have a MF 2605 tractor and I was pulling something when I heard a pop sound under the seat area and now I have no power forwards or reverse. It's like it is in neutral. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

There's a "fuse" coupler that connects the transmission output to the rear end. It's designed to break rather than destroy something more expensive. Some you can change through one of the round covers on the rear end, some you have to pull the top cover to replace.

Thank you very much for your reply. I need all the help I can get. This is an '08 model I believe. Is this possibly something I can fix myself? Or is it too in-depth?

Also how could I determine where I can access the fuse coupler?

MFRED you are an experienced tractor dude but I am puzzled. What the heck is a "fuse" coupler on a std transmission tractor with a clutch ? No tractor I ever saw has enough power to destroy anything expensive in a rear end, in part because the clutch is going to give (or traction be lost) long before any of the rear end is damaged. Please explain.

Looks like this and are design to snap if its overloaded, has been in the old MF design since the FE35 I think.

Wow -- I'm amazed and learned something. Thanks to both you and MFRED. It amounts to "shear pin," while it is not a pin, in the MF drivetrain. Amazing. I wonder if other brands have that sort of thing ?

Quite rare they snaps, its not so weak that they snap even under very heavy load and you can stall the engine etc not coming near the limit. its a shock protection.

Agvg got it. Very rare to break one but that's what it's there for.
